Scents of Hilton Head

Scents of Hilton Head has been a staple boutique on Hilton Head for 20 years. Julie and Michael took over the store May of 2004 after Julie saw an announcement in the paper that it was closing at the end of the month. She went in to buy some lotion and ended up buying the store. At that point, the inventory had been depleted which gave Julie and Michael a lot of freedom to reform and update the store. We stayed with the classic lines, L'Occitane, The Thymes and Lampe Berger and added new and upcoming names. Niven Morgan, Archipelago Botanicals, DayNa Decker, Voluspa and Esteban all gave the store a refreshing look and something for everyone of all ages.

Mardy joined the team as partner in January of 2005. She took over the website and marketing initiatives as well as the behind the scenes paperwork tiger. Although she enjoys working with the customers in the front of the house, converting a 10 year old website was a full-time devotion. The whole thing had to be reworked and adding products one at a time can be time consuming. But, she's very proud of her initial tryst into the world of e-commerce and continues to refine her contribution.

In May 2007, we moved down the walkway in the Village at Wexford from Suite E8 to Suite E1. You can now find us between Sumar Rugs and The Porcupine. The moved was prompted by the fact that we were able to buy the new location and cut our overhead significantly as a result of no rent. While the physical space is smaller, we were able to get all of the lines we wanted to keep and have added new ones thanks to some creative shelving and displays.
